My favorite magazine

I like to read magazines, fashion magazines, cultural magazines, artisitc magazins, or all in one!
But this is a magazine I've never seen before and it's definately my favorite, it's called WORD, and every letter, no every word feels alive. The best thing is, you don't have to take a subscription, just buy ONE and that will be enough for the rest of you life!

Today was a good day

Today was a good day, the sun was shining which put me in the mood to clean and go to the market in Rotterdam. And I didn't came back with empty hands, no not at all! I came back with a polaroid land camera 1000, and it only costed me 10 euros! I'm sooooo happy with it, now praying that it's actually working.... The other thing I bought was a old pinkish knitted sweater, totally right for this season!

Back at home, I was really in the mood for chai tea soja latte, but my chai mix was almost at it's end. So I made a lot of chai mix to get through the winter, yummm it's the best! Here is the recipe (in dutch hahah)

Wat heb je nodig?

Voor een mooi voorraadje chai-mix (masala):

1 theelepel hele kruidnagels
1 theelepel vers gemalen peper uit de molen
1 theelepel kardamomzaad
1/2 theelepel (geraspte) nootmuskaat
1 theelepel kaneel (of een kaneelstokje)
1 theelepel gemberpoeder

 Rooster de kruiden in een pan. Maal het vervolgens fijn in een keukenmachine en bewaar het in een luchtdicht bakje.

Hoe maak ik een chai tea latte?

1. Verwarm (soja)melk met (ongeveer) een kwart theelepeltje masala in een pannetje. Ik gebruik ook weleens vanille sojamelk.
2. Haal het van het vuur en doe er een theelepeltje normale (zwarte) theeblaadjes of een theezakje bij.
3. Laat het even trekken en zeef het vervolgens.
(NB: een alternatief is om theeblaadjes en masalamix in een thee-ei of -zeefje te mengen. Dan kun je het zeven bij stap 3 overslaan)
4. Voeg naar smaak suiker of honing toe. Ook een scheutje gembersiroop is hier trouwens erg lekker in

The man who waved

I've been graduated for some time now, but when I was still going to school I always passed a retirement place with all kinds of a old people sitting behind their window on my way to school.

Their was one specific old chubby man who sat behind his window EVERYIME I passes by, and EVERYTIME I passed by he would wave at me. I don't know why but everytime he did that I ignored him by pretending not seeing him. I thought he was some old pervert guy who was trying to hit on teenage girls by waving at them (how could I ever think that? And even if that was the reason he waved at me why wouldn't I give him that little pleasure on his old day?) There was also something dirty-ish about him what made me ignore him.

So today I had to go somewhere and on my route to there I passed the retirement place. And guess who was sitting there: the old waving man. And guess what he did: he waved at me! He just never gave up on waving at me!! I fell so sorry for him that in all the six years I was in High School I never waved back, so I decided, although it's maybe six years too late, to wave at him. So I did, and when he saw that his smile became bigger and his handshake more enthousiastic. It was so good to see what a little wave can do to an old person.

So to everyone who ever ignored someone who waved at them: WAVE BACK!!!

What is that feeling?

What is that feeling??
That feeling that you're not the mood for posting anything on your blog (or twitter which I recently have) it's sooo anoying!! You sort of want to share something but you have nothing really important or interesting to share...maybe this social networking is a waste of time, maybe it's only leaving you with this weared undescribable feeling, maybe you only want to pretend your interesting because everyone else seems so cool and inspiraring when al you feel is uninspirable!
And then all of the sudden there are a thousand things to tell and post about, which last for maybe a couple of hours and than that weared empty feeling is back. I don't know if you feel the same, maybe it's just me and I actually don't know why I'm sharing this but I just got to have it of my chest.

A little present

When I got home from graduation there was a little present waiting for me...

A few days earlier my sister and I got a tip to read the book: The year of living biblically.

The guy who gave us this tip said it was a must-read and if you had nothing to read for this summer you've GOT to read it.

I was searching for a book to read this summer, because I don't read that much and I wanted to prepare myself for college (university).

Well, I think you can guess what the present is now...it was the book and with it there was such a funny card and I actually posted this blog to show you this funny card because I laughed my pants off!
The card is also very appropriate with the book. The only difference is that the card didn't have any words on it, but even with the words it's funny...

Sundrenched

Past week was very sundrenched and fortunately I only had to work one day so the rest of the week I could enjoy the lovely sunny weather!
I went to the park twice, first with my sisters and niece and the second time with the whole family and some friends. The second time there was live music which was great because mostly it was latin or jazz and I love it!
This week the weather is expected to be the same and I'm throwing a bonfire graduation party, but now I'm of to my friends's graduation party which include fashion, bbq and hopefully a little soccer (world cup, you see!)

GRADUATED

YAAAAY I'm graduated!! WHOEHEO I'm sooo happy, after all the hard/robotic/braindeadning work and learning I've got graduated!!

The I heart revelution

Woooow, it has been almost a week since I've seen this film and I'm still touched en moved by it.
I can explain it but I think it's a must see for eveyone!! Since I've seen it I'm thinking about ways to fulfill the needs in this world and I've come to the conclution that I have to start small.

Just do thing I can do and not trying to do eveything because that's impossible.

How i'm going to do that?
Well, I think I'm going to start being involved with Justice Generation, an organisation who helps elder people and kids who have a mental handicap once a month.
I also hope that my study is going to have a greater purpose than only a interesting study. With cultural antropology I hope to be able  to help people in any kind of way. So now I'm even more excited to start with it!! Let's hope and pray for the best!!

Sunday I booked a ticket to LONDON!!

I'm sooo excited because I wanted to go to London for a long, long time!!

Because I'm not having school right now (waiting for my results...), I'm busy with planning the trip and things to do there! So if anyone has a suggstion please let me know!

Some things I had in mind to do:

- Going to Brick lane and Portobello road market
- Visiting Hillsong London

- Visiting Camden, Nothing hill Soho and Chinatown

- Discovering cute little boutiques and stores

- Visting some main touristic stuff (Big Ben, London eye, etc..)

Hipsters

A while ago I was really into cute unknown but mostly known (indie) bands/ analogue photography/ riped shirts with bandprints combined with short ripped jeans and boots etc....
I thought, as naive as I am, I was one of the few people who were like this. This was quickly over when I went to a (sort of) festival with bands I LOVED and I saw everyone beying like me or beying who I liked to be....at first I thought, wooow cool but then I got really anoyed by everyone beying everyhting I thought was unique but wasn't unique anymore, because everyone was like that.

Then I found out there was a name for that kind of people, they are called hipsters. When I heared that I immediately got a sort of aversion to it, the name only reminded me of underwear...
But then I found out people liked to call themselfs hipsters and tried to be it with every possible aspect of being it, listening to music 'hipsters' listen to, wearing clothes that 'hipsters' wear, like art that 'hipsters' like, basically live like they think  hipsters live...

I don't know about you, but why in the world would you do that??? WHY?
Isn't it much more fun to just be yourself , which ofcourse can include a few things that 'hipsters' like, but besides that have your own unique thing, something that characterizes you?!
And don't get me wrong, I do like a lot of things that hipsters like, but I just don't understand why people want to be a part of something that's all the same, why do you want to be a part of a 'group' with the same kind of people.
If someone can explain that to me please do! But for now I don't understand a heck of it!

Hello there

Hello there,
I'm awake again, the past month I felt like a robot but slowly I'm feeling like a  human again!
But during my exams I haven't sat still (except for the moment I had to learn ofcourse) I've been to the lovely Angus & Julia Stone, Justin Nozuka, Noah and the whale, had a delighted evening at the beach and so on...

This is the time I have to reload myself again with fashion, photography, art and music so I can be a fully humanbeing again! I want to post more thinks to inspire myself and you (the two or three persons who are reading this). Let's start with a few pictures of my activities the past month....hahah I don't know if that's inspirating/inspireable/??? but heck to that!

Thought of the day

I think I'm losing my blog skills (not that I had them, but still) Everytime I think of something to post a blog about I find myself with an empty head. I try soo hard to think of something to blog about, but it's just not there...I have noticed I have the same with my guitar. Everytime I pick up my guitar I play the same old songs I play everytime when I pick up my guitar. Maybe its a phase I'm in, maybe I'm brainwashed by school and I can't think for myself now, maybe all my creativity is gone, or maybe there was no creativity once and I'm now thinking I'm blanc for good...

I suddenly think of something i thought today. Today I had to work and I have a lot of people around me on my work. Because it's Easter tomorrow, everyone is asking eachother what their plans are for the weekend. And most people said that they are meeting with old friend, or family they hardly see or speak. And I thought, why do people only meet up with old friend or family they hardly see on Easter or Christmas or any other holiday and that without knowing what the real meaning of Easter is (I'm a christian you see...)
I was slightly bummed and dissapointed, but hey...there is noting I can do about it. So that's my thought of the day!

I still haven't thought about a subject yet, so I think I'm going to end this one with some fisheye pictures I made recently!

Springspringspringspring!

It has been a while since I've posted a blog, I don't know why actually, I just was not in the mood I guess. Sometime I wonder if anyone ever reads this...if not: TO BAD
Anyways here in Holland spring is in the air. Well it's just the second day with pretty good weather and they say it isn't going to last for long, so I'd better enjoy it!
